I ♥ Leeds

Leeds for Emma's 19th last year- the theme was safari

2010: Emma, Lucy, me, Becky

Looking sliiiightly shiny by this point

I'm sorry these pictures are all mixed up- they all uploaded funny and I can't be bothered to change them!

Hi guys hope everyone had a good weekend!
This is pretty much picture based as I'm soo tired due to lack of sleep and worky work today but thought I'd share with you my weekend in Leeds.
I know you can't tell from the pictures but we were in Leeds. It was my uni friend Emma's 20th and although a few of us couldn't make it, the four of us burnt enough holes in the dancefloor for us all.
I went Saturday as I had to work on Friday (boo) and we had a little mooch around the shops (which are pretty amazing) I am definately doing my christmas shopping there.
I brought a new MAC powder as mine was running seriously low- not complaining as I've had it since last Novemeber and I use it every day as I don't wear a foundation.
Anyway... we headed to a bar for some cheeky vimtos and onto the 02 academy for some indie/retro music and a boogie.
I wore a playsuit from Primark which was amazingly comfortable and pretty easy to go to the toilet in (if someone zipped me down and up) and Topshop boots (which cannot be seen but are almost glued to my feet as they're so comfy)
Lucy wore an owl vest from Topshop and a New Look high waisted skirt.
Becky wore a peach dress from Miss Selfridge and shoes from Dorothy Perkins.
And birthday girl Emma also wore a Primark playsuit and Dotty P shoes.
This is all for tonight ladies but I shall report back when I can keep my eyes open.

Hoarder

So I've been awol again this week. I'm pretty awful at this at the moment, all I seem to do is work and then run around after other people. I moan and I shouldn't but hey ho.

Anyway, this week I tried to whittle down my wardrobe as I brought a few new things (H&M mac, Topshop leopard print blouse and 3 jumpsuits. I saw a style which hid my hips and I went for it in 3 varieties. Oops) I managed to remove a chiffon shirt and hung everything else off the doors.

I actually cannot throw anything away I always think I'm going to wear that sometime like the light blue jeans I brought because they were a good fit- I'm not really a jeans sort of girl to start with and I brought two pairs. I think one went to Oxfam but I'm sure they'll be needed if I throw the other pair.

It's the same with the bright red Lifeguard hoodie I brought from Newquay in 2005 before everyone had them- It remains squished under my bed with those keys from my 18th and birthday cards I can't throw away, because I want an original when they're 'vintage' in ten years.

It makes me mad sometimes, but I cannot throw things away. I don't have masses of clothes just a wardrobe and chest of drawers (which is pretty average I guess) but I'm not someone who does seasonal shops and gets rid of everything come summer/winter. I'm too attached to everything.

The problem

Grey Internacionale bag/ Next brown bag
Last week I had a Mulberry-alike or not debate with myself and ended up buying two!! I justify the brown one as it is a replacement for the broken M&S and the grey one as it's big enough for V festival and is pretty fit if I do say so.
So talking of V, I'm having major issues with this whole festival thing.
First up, I brought coach and camping tickets as there were no other options left and now I have to get the coach. I know this is stupid as that's what I brought, but I don't care about a coach. I even rang up and asked about collecting my tickets from Birmingham on the day- but to no avail.
I've brought most things like tent, sleeping bag etc because I don't want to ruin the good 'family' ones, my sleeping bag is kinda cool really it's plum and just nice- and only £5 from Decathlon. (This is also where I buy all of my black leggings as they're really well made and cheap) Anyway that's a whole other story and I've digressed enough.
All I need now is a pair of wellies and some form of waterproof that isn't a binbag with a hole in the top. And I cannot find either anywhere.

Maybe I'm being too fussy but the two pairs I saw today both had funny heel things and were pretty ugly, and out of ten highstreet stores there were no waterproof coat/jacket/kag-in-a-bag things that were under twenty pounds.

In all honesty I think it's ridiculous to pay more than that for a waterproof in the (probable) event that it rains and wellies for £50?? I think not.

I'll let you know how the hunt goes- I'll probably take a binbag and bit a hole in it.

Well this has been a load of babble and a totally pointless (but quite theraputic) post.

I neeeeeeed it!

Between magazines and perusing various blogs, this week I have found a few things I would like to stuff in my wardrobe or add to to my makeup bag.

The first is actually something I saw last week in All Saints. Now, I love this shop, but the last time I went it had all become a bit 'samey' with over done designs that were ridiculously expensive and I hadn't been in ages. I went to spend a giftcard I had for my birthday and actually re-fell (word?!) in love.
I actually brought this sequin bow t-shirt to add to my staple wardrobe of long t-shirts and leggings.

I love the little detail and it's so different from anything else I've seen in there.

Anyway, on the way out I saw this yeehaw vest, there aren't any pictures on the website of the vest but this is the t-shirt. I love it. I love the length and the quirkiness. I think you love it or hate it, but it's something I need in my wardrobe.

At the moment there are loads of summer t-shirts that are a little different, some I'm not too keen on like the skeleton family portraits, but the floral zebra dress and all of the men's t-shirts are really different. I think they've stepped it up a little since other stores, including Asda, have been producing similar skeleton and rams skulls printed tees. So that has a thumbs up.

Moving on, a little visit to MAC may be in order. When I was 17 I had a nude lipstick and loved it, it was a little concealer lips for some but I didn't care. My lips are really pink and I'd like to tone it down a little bit. On the other side, I want something 'poppy' for a night out. I want a colour totally different to what I normally wear (which is actually just a MAC lipgloss) and a little bit summery.

I've been leaning towards snob, but it will just depend when I'm there as it'll probably look awful.

Next up, I've been coveting a new satchel style bag for a while. My favourite Marks and Spencer failed me picking my little brother up from school, when the clasp snapped on the playground. I'm sure there's something I can do to fix it, but I'd always be wary of using it.
I saw this bag a while ago in a magazine trend column and it has now finally arrived in Next stores. I'm a little apprehensive about what it actually looks/feels like in reality, and with all the Mulberry imitations out there at the moment (Peacocks and Internacionale) I'm concerned it's a little like jumping on the fake bandwagon. Time and a good mooch will tell.

And finally, exfoliator. I need one which won't react with my skin but will do a decent job. My skin isn't overly sensitive, but it really doesn't like some things. I generally go for these things either by good review or smell, and it's all trial and error. I'll let you know when I've found a hero product.

DIY

Hello

I am now finally on track to sit down and take this blog seriously. I started it wanting to dedicate time, and everything just happened meaning this has been sort of abandoned.

Yesterday, with my first free weekend in forever, I did a little painting. Not some intricate watercolour or huge mural, just some wooden words I brought from Hobbycraft.

I love inspirational words and pictures and brought this wire heart frame from Argos to pin everything to a while ago- the words Dream and Create pretty much sum me up and with a bit of acrylic paint I think they liven up the whole thing.
Today I went to Birmingham with the boyfriend and used the giftcard I had for All Saints, I also spent a ridiculous amount in Primark on things I've wanted for ages, denim jacket and red cardigan, and a few other lovely bits if you're interested. I'll show these things as and when they are worn.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Supermarket Sweep

Hi guys. Still a manic week and I start a second job tonight, but I managed to squeeze in some shopping during a food shop and found this gorgeous cardigan from Asda which needs to be shared.

These pictures really don't do it justice as my camera is awful and I'm desperately saving for a posh one :)

The beige thread you can see is actually a gold wool and it's very vintage 1980s. A bargain for £16, especially as when I got to the check out the lady said she'd seen an exact copy for £110 in French Connection. Chuffed.

I also brought Kesha's album for a fiver. I wasn't her biggest fan but it's amazing work out music, and I actually love the video for Your love is my drug.
In other news, I've been making candles since the beginning of summer as I couldn't afford the posh ones.
Scents and wax are really cheap off ebay and my new batch came today. Their arrival has made my day.
Hopefully when life calms down next week I can whip some up, so expect strawberry scented tea-cup candles soon.

Favourite things this week

The past couple of weeks have been one of those times when everything seems to happen all at once.

You end up rushing around on sheer adrenaline and miss out on everything.

But it's also one of those times when I appreciate the little things more. Here are a few of the things that have made my week :)

The boyfriend. Enough said

QVC. It sends me to sleep.

The Dome. Also sends me to sleep.

Mini poppadoms. Yum.

Girlie nights. When friends descend at 11pm armed with wine.

Lemon aid. For the ridiculous bags ughh.

This blog has been so slow starting.
I started this aiming to post every other day and I will once this hellish week is over. Scout's honour.
I do have some ideas in the pipeline and want to share them with you all, so stay tuned ladies.
